BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. —A four-year-old Wathena, Kansas boy has succumbed to injuries sustained while submerged in a backyard swimming pool. Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett reports the boy was pronounced dead Thursday morning at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
His name is not being released, because he is a juvenile.
The father and grandfather of the child pulled the boy from the pool at a residence on Southwest 36th Road the evening of an Independence Day party on the 4th. The two performed CPR until emergency workers arrived and rushed the boy to Mosaic Life Care. He then was transferred to Children’s Mercy.
