Police: Car theft suspects captured after hiding in Kan. home

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with a car theft.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police initiated a traffic stop of a stolen car in the 700 block of SE 26th Street in Topeka, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.

The two occupants fled from the car and entered into a home in the 700 block of SE 26th Street. Officers took an adult female and adult male into custody without incident.

They later booked Michael Benson, 47, of Topeka, into the Shawnee County Department of on requested charges of Aggravated Burglary, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and  Felony Interference with Law Enforcement. Police released no additional details on a second arrest.
