COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect for alleged child sex crimes.
Just before 10:30a.m December 11, special agents with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested Brian W. Black, 40, without incident at his residence in Arkansas City, according to a media release from the KBI.
Black was arrested on a warrant on requested charges that include three counts of rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of exploitation of a child, two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, abuse of a child, and battery.
In September 2023, the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance with a sexual assault investigation involving a 16-year-old girl who had reported that Black had raped her.
Special agents began investigating. They conducted interviews, executed search warrants and gathered evidence. Following the arrest, Black was booked into the Cowley County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000.
