Sunday storm brought strong winds, baseball size hail

RICE COUNTY — A severe thunderstorm rolled through Rice County Sunday evening and prompted some damage.

According to reports provided to the National Weather Service office in Wichita on Sunday, at least 22 power poles were snapped, large tree limbs were downed, a barn was destroyed and a half-mile of railroad cars were laid over near Geneseo.

Storm spotters also reported baseball size hail with that storm.

The same storm prompted a gust of 77 mph at the Lyons airport at 6:40 p.m. Sunday.
