SALINE COUNTY —Wildlife officials are investigating after a deer was poached and left headless in Saline County.
Just after 11:30a.m. October 31, Friday a resident who lives near the 1900 block of North Kipp Road reported of finding a headless white-tailed deer, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
The day before, the resident heard a gunshot at around 4:30 pm. He then found tire tracks, which led him to find the headless deer.
Rifle season for deer in the state is December 3 through December 14, 2025, according to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
