23-year-old Kan. man dies after head-on truck crash

DOUGLAS COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 3:30a.m. Thursday in Douglas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Freightliner straight truck driven by Eric J. Burge, 54, Kansas City, MO., was  eastbound on Kansas 10 Highway just east of 1900 Road.

 The truck crossed the center median into westbound lanes and stuck a 2006 Acura TSX driven by Robert Stanley Walston, Jr. 23, Olathe, head-on  Both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch.

Walston was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Foresics. EMS transported Burge to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The drivers were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
