
LYON COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas on man for alleged attempted murder after a standoff in Emporia.
Just before 7p.m. August 15, Lyon Co. Emergency Communications received a report of a domestic disturbance involving a gun at a home in the 900 block of Waverly Way, in Emporia, according to a media release from the Lyon County Sheriff.
When law enforcement arrived, they determined 43-year-old Ronald W. Schemm was alone in the house. First responders made several attempts throughout the evening and overnight to get him to surrender.
Schemm surrendered peacefully Monday morning once the Emporia Police Department’s Special Response Team arrived to the scene.
Schemm is being held on requested charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm and discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling, according to the release.
