
LEAVENWORTH—A man recently indicted on drug charges died over the weekend in the federal prison in Leavenworth.
Just after 7 p.m. Saturday, prison officials found 28-year-old Denix Heredia-Chang unresponsive at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Leavenworth, Kansas, according to a statement from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Responding employees initiated life-saving measures. Emergency medical services (EMS) were requested while life-saving efforts continued. EMS pronounced him deceased,
Heredia-Chang arrived at FCI Leavenworth on May 7, under pretrial status after being indicted for Synthetic Narcotic Sale. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Marshals Service have been notified. No employees or other incarcerated individuals were injured.
