
KANSAS CITY —A Jackson County jury Friday convicted Martel L. Harrison, 26, of Murder and other felonies in connection with the August 2020 fatal shooting of Sage Walston, whose body was found in the area of Linwood and Elmwood, acording to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

The jury found Harrison guilty of Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Knowingly Burning or Exploding.
According to the probably cause statement, in August of 2020, police found Walston's burning car in a church parking lot less than a mile from the apartment complex where he had been staying with a woman.
A woman who knew both Harrison and Walston told police Harrison gave her $20 to buy the gasoline used to set Walston's car on fire.
Harrison burned his face and neck while setting the car on fire. He shaved his head after the fire. He denied killing Walston or setting Walston's car on fire.
Harrison will be sentenced on June 13.
