JOHNSON COUNTY—A suspect accused in a sex assault and robbery made his first court appearance.
A man has been charged after a sexual assault Tuesday in Overland Park, Kansas.
On Nov. 21, Gabriel Pascaul Hernandez, 37, was charged with rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated burglary and theft, according to the Johnson County District Attorney's office.
The incident occurred just after 2:30a.m. November 19, in a home near W. 97th Street and Reeder in Overland Park, according to Overland Park Police Officer John Lacy.
The victim did not know the suspect but was able to provide a description as a stocky build, clean-shaven, late twenties to early thirties man. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a black beanie-style cap.
EMS transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Overland Park Police Department, with the assistance of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department arrested the suspect.
Hernandez is due back in court December 5, according to online jail records.
