TOPEKA —Governor Laura Kelly has sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency requesting a major presidential disaster for the Public Assistance Program due to damages caused by severe thunderstorms, straight-line winds, torrential rainfall and flooding during the period of Sept. 8-10, 2025, according to a media release from the Kansas Adjutant General’s Office.
“It is important to have federal support available to these counties to assist in rebuilding their infrastructure,” Governor Kelly said. “Damages sustained will require long-term recovery and these funds will go a long way to help these communities rebuild.”
Counties included in this request are Ellsworth, Lincoln, Ottawa, and Saline.
