Police: Kansas man died after New Year's Eve fight

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities have identified the victim of a manslaughter investigation as  26-year-old Sharrod Rollen of Wichita.

Just before 1 p.m. Saturday, police responded to an assist EMS call at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of South Woodlawn, in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Rollen had been found deceased by acquaintances in an apartment.

The investigation revealed that Rollen and three other individuals had gone out to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. When they returned to the apartment, Rollen got into a physical fight.

During the fight, Rollen fell to the ground and lost consciousness. The Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center performed an autopsy on Rollen and he was found to have internal head trauma, according to Wheeler.

The incident was not random remains under investigation, according to Wheeler.
