
SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who died after a confirmed EF-2 tornado struck northern Sedgwick County during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 21.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a collapsed home in the 1500 block of East 125th Street North after a utility worker in the area reported the home had been blown from its foundation, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.
During a search of the scattered debris, responding crews located the home's sole occupant, 64-year-old Ricky L. Schale. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Schale died at the scene.
Mr. Schale's death has been determined to be storm-related.
