SEDGWICK COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a weekend shooting.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Saturday, police responded to a shooting at Lincoln and Broadway, according to officer Keven Wheeler.
As officers responded, they learned that a shooting patient arrived at a local hospital. Officers contacted a 32-year-old man who was treated and released with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his torso.
The investigation revealed that the 32-year-old was at a bar in the 1000 block of S. Broadway. As he and a 33-year-old woman were leaving the business, he was shot once by an unknown suspect causing his injury. A 35-year-old acquaintance transported the 32-year-old and the 33-year-old to the hospital in his vehicle.
Minutes before the shooting call, officers also responded to a suspicious character with shots fired at Topeka and Morris in Wichita. Officers learned that an unknown suspect was seen firing shots from a church parking lot.
Police have not released additional details or reported an arrest.
