3 Kansas women dead after 3-vehicle construction zone crash

SUMNER COUNTY —Three people died in an accident just after 1:30p.m. Saturday in Sumner County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Honda Accord driven by Sheena Nicole Harroald, 37, Wichita, was northbound on Interstate 35 near Belle Plaine.

The Honda traveled left of center in a construction zone. The Honda clipped a 2017 Chevy Cruz driven by Eric Wayne Stevenson, 46, Bowman, North Dakota and struck a 2020 Chevy Traverse driven by Larry D. Triplett, 64, Wichita, head-on.

Sheena Nicole Harroald and passengers in the Honda Nathelia F. Mcintosh, 62, Wichita, and Wanda F. Tidwell, 86,  Park City, were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Cornejo Funeral Home. 

EMS transported a third passenger in the Honda Shala Dee Harroald, 42, Wichita, Stevenson, Triplett and a passenger in the Chevy identified as Vicky Y. Triplett, 64, Wichita, to St. Francis.  The KHP had incomplete seatbelt usage information.
