Fire Marshal: Kansas house fire intentionally set

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating who set another house fire in Topeka.

Just after 11p.m. Saturday, fire crews responded to the fire in a home at 1908 SW Central Park Avenue in Topeka, according to Fire Marshal Todd Harrison. Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke and flames coming from the two story house.

Firefighters performed a primary search and found no occupants. The structure was vacant at the time of the fire. Evidence of transient activity was present at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the fire cause to be intentionally set, according to Harrison. The estimated dollar loss – $22,000.00; all of which is associated with structure loss. Working smoke detectors were not located in the home, according to Harrison.
