Kan. deputy finds felon traveling with sawed off shotgun, drugs

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on multiple charges following a traffic.

Just before 1a.m. Friday, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Mercedes passenger car with a stolen license plate in the 3200 block of SW Topeka Boulevard, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

The driver later identified as 27-year-old Keegiaen R.W. Hamilton of Colorado fled on foot and was quickly taken into custody nearby without incident. During the investigation, a K9 Unit located two stolen firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun, and illegal narcotics.

Deputies booked Hamilton into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for three felony arrest warrants and addition requested charges of felony interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, distribute certain hallucinogens, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful vehicle registration violations.
