SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement across Kansas continue to search for a teen wanted in connection with a homicide in  Wichita.

Wichita Police Department issued a felony pick-up for 18-year-old Jaden Watts in connection with the crime. The Sedgwick County District Attorney filed second-degree murder charges against Watts last week.

Just before 4 a.m. March 22, police responded to an EMS call at a residence in the 14000 block of E. Twinlake Drive in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Reboledo.

First responders located a victim later identified as 24-year-old Demarc Burgess, according to police. Burgess had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

In April, police issued an alert for Watts for questioning regarding this case.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred during a gathering at the residence, where a disturbance broke out between a suspect and Burgess, which ultimately led to the shooting. The individuals involved are known to each other, and this is not believed to be a random act of violence.

If you have information about Watts whereabouts, please call 911 immediately or contact WPD Investigators at 316-268-4407.

If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
