Kansas man and his dog die after van, semi collide

DOUGLAS COUNTY— A Kansas man and his dog died in an accident Monday in Douglas County.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, a semi truck driven by 66-year-old Reinnold Hartmann of Missouri and a van driven by 39-year-old David Hosch of Olathe collided on E 2400 Road on  U.S. 56 Highway. Both drivers were pinned inside of their respective vehicles.

Hosch was pronounced dead at the scene.  Lifeflight transported Hartman to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

 Hosch did have a dog inside his vehicle, which also died as a result of the crash, according to the sheriff's department. Authorities released no additional details.
