SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a gunfight that sent a teen to the hospital.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a shooting call at a convenience store the 3900 block of South Meridian in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

Police located an 18-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his right upper back. The victim was transported to an area hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the victim was struck by gunfire after a 20-year-old victim of a robbery exchanged gunfire with a male suspect after the suspect started shooting at him.

The investigators are still working to fully determine what led up to the shooting. The injured teen underwent surgery and was reported in stable condition, according to Rebolledo
