HARVEY COUNTY — Police are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that occurred early Thursday in Newton.
Just before 4a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 6 SE Fourth Court in Newton on a report of gunfire. Officers found numerous shell casings in the street and multiple bullet holes in the house. Victims and witnesses at the house were largely uncooperative. No one was injured in the shooting.
During a canvass of the area, officers found a vehicle belonging to a neighboring house was also struck by gunfire.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier disturbance at the house. A search warrant was executed for the house and two vehicles, where evidence consistent with the shooting was recovered.
