Police ID body found in river as missing Kansas man

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities have identified the body recovered from the Kansas River on Wednesday afternoon as 30-year-old Verlon Timms, Jr., of Kansas City, Kansas, according to KCK Police.

Family reported Timms missing on March 24. The cause of death is pending final autopsy results.

This incident remains under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). All tips remain anonymous.

KANSAS CITY —Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department have initiated a death investigation after a body was discovered Wednesday afternoon in the Kansas River, according to a media release.

Just after 4:30p.m. first responders were dispatched to the area of S. 26th and Kansas Avenue. Due to the location of the body, KCK Fire Dept. Water Rescue launched from Kaw Point, and a short time later, were able to recover the body of an adult male.

Police released no additional details late Wednesday.
