KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces felony charges for the fatal shooting of his son in a Kansas City residence earlier this month, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Jose P. Pilar, 43, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Cambridge Avenue in Kansas City on a reported shooting.
The calling party said "Raul was shot by father."
Witnesses told police that the victim, Raul Pilar Sanchez, and the defendant, his father, argued over a family friend coming over to visit.
The defendant left the residence and soon after a family member found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Family members told police their father shot their brother.
This case was filed under seal, which has now been removed.
