
SEDGWICK COUNTY — A man accused of attempting to kidnap and 8-year-old in Wichita made his first court appearance in the case Wednesday.
Tanner J. Warren, 27, was charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted interference with parental custody, according to online jail records.
Just before 11:30a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the 2800 block of West Central in Wichita for a reported disturbance. The caller told police that their 8-year-old had left home and was walking in the 600 block of North Gordon when a man approached her and grabbed her.
The girl was able to break free and run to her grandparents' location, who called 911.
Officers arrived quickly, located the suspect, later identified in Sedgwick County booking records as Tanner J. Warren, near North Gordon, and detained him without incident. He remains jailed on a bond of $40,000, according to online jail records.
