SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a homicide in Wichita have captured a wanted suspect.

On Wednesday, Wichita Police Homicide investigators arrested 23-year-old Jeremiah Walker on a charge of Second-Degree Murder in the deaath of 27-year-old Quentin Gordon, according to Wichita Police Captain Aaron Moses.

Just after 9:30p.m. June 4, Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 4800 block of East Funston.

Wichita Police, Wichita Fire, and Sedgwick County EMS responded to the scene and found Gordon suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest that Gordon was involved in an argument with another individual when the shooting occurred, indicating that this was not a random act of violence, according to Moses.

On June 6, police asked for help to locate Anjaliyah S. Orange and Jeremiah Z. Walker as they may have information about the homicide. Police are no longer searching for Orange, according to Moses.

The details of this case have been presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, resulting in Walker being charged with Second-Degree Murder, according to Moses.

This incident marks the 15th criminal homicide in Wichita for 2024.
