HUTCHINSON— There were no injuries from a pair of fire calls Wednesday in Hutchinson.
Hutchinson Firefighters responded to Midwest Iron and Metal for a commercial vehicle fire following direct contact with an overhead power line.
The driver narrowly escaped as high voltage traveled through the vehicle. Power to the lines was discontinued by Evergy prior to firefighters making any attempt to extinguish the energized vehicle.
Late afternoon Wednesday brought firefighters back to a structure that caught fire about 3 weeks ago in the 500 block of North Van Buren. The home was still without utilities from the previous fire. No residents were in the home, however the fire remains under investigation as suspicious activity is in question.
