Two adults, child dead after violent incident at Kan. home

PAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an incident that left three dead in Pawnee County.

Just after 9p.m. Saturday, the Larned Police Department received a 911 call from a man who discovered the three subjects dead inside a residence at 524 Park Street Larned, according to Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett.

At the scene, first responders located 44-year-old Shala M. Smith,  12-year-old Carver A. Smith and 44-year-old Jon B. Smith all of Larned, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. They each died from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead by the coroner at the scene, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded to Larned to investigate.

No threat to the public is believed to exist related to this incident. Additional details will be released after the autopsies are completed.

On Saturday, an apparent domestic violence incident at a residence in Larned resulted in the death of two adults and one minor child, according to Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett.

The individual believed to be responsible is one of the deceased. The incident was discovered when a friend stopped by to check on the family.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is currently handling the investigation at the request of the Larned Police Department. Formal autopsies have been ordered.
