CHEROKEE COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 6a.m. Saturday in Cherokee County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1994 Chevy Blazer driven by Meredith Wagner, 19, Columbus, was westbound on U.S. 400 two miles east of Baxter Springs. The SUV traveled off the road to the left. The driver overcorrected. The vehicle crossed over U.S. 400 off the road to the right, rolled and the driver was ejected.
Wagner was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Derfelt Funeral Home. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
