Police ID Kan. man, woman who died after motorcycle, truck crash

TOPEKA—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal weekend accident have identified the victims as 46-year-old Anthony Vardys and 47-year-old Tamara L. Vardys both of Topeka, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.

Just after 10p.m. Saturday, first responders were dispatched to Highway 24 and NE Meriden Road on a report of an injury accident involving a motorcycle and a truck, according to police Lt. Matt Danielson. Both the motorcycle and the truck were transporting two occupants.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. American Medical Response transported the driver to a local hospital where he later died from injuries. The passenger of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants in the other vehicle were not injured. The area surrounding Highway 24 and NE Meriden Road were closed while officers investigated.
