Ten new cases: 'Ellis County is not isolating well inside the home'

The Ellis County Health Department on Wednesday announced 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the county since Monday.

There are now 39 active cases and 97 total cases — including one death — since reporting began.

"Fifty percent of our new active cases are familial contacts of another positive that reside in the same home," the department said in a news release. "Ellis County is not isolating well inside the home. If a known positive resides in the home, the positive cannot use shared spaces."

Contacts of the new cases will be notified and directed to self-quarantine for 14 days.

On Monday, the Ellis County Commission opted against requiring face coverings, an issue the Hays City Commission is expected to discuss Thursday.
