KANSAS CITY—The State Trooper who was seriously injured on August 26, after being struck by a vehicle, was released this weekend to go home, according to a statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. "He has a long road of recovery ahead, but he has made great progress. His spirits are high and his determination is inspiring."
Just after midnight August 26, a trooper was on a traffic stop in the inside left shoulder of northbound Interstate 35, north of Missouri 210, in north Kansas City, according to a media release from the Patrol.
The trooper, whose name has not been released, had just placed the driver of a traffic stop under arrest of suspect driving whild intoxicated and was standing on the passenger side of the patrol car when a passing motorist struck the trooper and the patrol car.
EMS transported the trooper to an area hospital in serious condition. The driver who struck the trooper was transported for treatment of minor injuries. The arrested suspect was not injured.
