JACKSON COUNTY (AP) — An 8-year-old boy has died in an accidental shooting in suburban Kansas City over the weekend, police said.
Police in Independence said the shooting happened early Saturday morning when officer were called to a home for reports of a shooting. Arriving officers found the boy shot and later reported that the child had died of his injuries.
Police have not released the boy’s name or any details about the shooting, other than to say it appeared to have been accidental.

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting that injured a juvenile.
On Saturday morning, police responded to the scene of a shooting in the 1200 Block of N. Liberty in Independence, according to the police department.
Initial reports are there is one juvenile victim and it it is believed to be accidental at this time.
