Online fundraiser for family of Kan. girl struck, killed by SUV

SEDGWICK COUNTY— Law enforcement continue their investigation weekend pedestrian accident that left a child dead.

Just after 5:30p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, later identified as 12-year-old Esamay Heese, and a motor vehicle in 7000 block of W. 13th Street  in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

First responders found the girl who had been struck by a westbound Jeep SUV. EMS transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.   Friends of the family have established an online fundraiser to assist them.

The Wichita Police Department's Critical Accident Team is conducting a thorough investigation, interviewing witnesses to gather additional information on the incident.
