FINNEY COUNTY —A southwest Kansas man has been convicted and sentenced for a violent attack on Mother's Day in Garden City.
According to the Finney County Attorney, 21-year-old Fabian Xavier Rosales was convicted of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness and Aggravated Domestic Battery. He was sentenced to serve 85 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections with 36-months of post release supervision.
On May 14, police responded to St. Catherine Hospital for a report of an earlier battery and learned that a woman had been involved in a domestic situation with Rosales, according to a media release.
The investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between the woman and Rosales, in which Rosales allegedly made several threats and caused significant injury to the woman.
Rosales was taken into custody at the hospital without incident. In addition to the prison time he is also subject to 15-years of registration as a violent offender.
