MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. – The current lapse in appropriations will have impact on McConnell Air Force Base and its personnel, including the furloughing of almost 500 civilian workers, according to a statement from the base.
At McConnell, a total of 395 civilian employees from the 22nd and 931st Air Refueling Wings, not engaged in excepted activities are being furloughed. Another approximately 100 employees from the 184th Wing will also be furlough and those details are still being finalized.
The exact impact of the lapse in appropriations and furloughs will vary from agency to agency, with some customer service operations being slowed by minimal manning. For example:
- The Commissary, Base Exchange and Shoppette remain open, with no change in operating hours.
- Medical and Pharmacy operations remain open, with no change in operating hours.
- The Pass and Registration office shifts to a weekday-only schedule of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will have limited staff.
