SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man died in an accident just after 11:30a.m. Saturday in Sedgwick County.&nbsp;

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Nissan Altima driven by Damian Russell Conner, 23, Whitewater, was southbound on Interstate 135 at 53rd Street at highway speeds. 

The driver applied the brakes, but due to a wet roadway and rainfall, did not stop in time. The Nissan rear-ended the trailer of 2020 Freightliner semi driven by Simon Elias Rogers, 34, Covington, Georgia, who was stopped in the right lane in heavy traffic.

Conner was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to&nbsp;Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center.&nbsp;Rogers was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
