RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a theft of guns in Riley County have made an arrest.

On Tuesday, police arrested 24-year-old Kansas inmate Brandon Welty, of Manhattan after he was transported from the Lansing Correction Facility to the Riley County Jail on a Riley County District Court warrant for burglary and three counts of theft, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

The warrant stems from a February 23, 2022, incident in the 11900 block of Crooked Creek Road where it was reported 13 guns and other miscellaneous items were stolen from a home.

A 39-year-old man and a 51-year-old man were listed as the victims in the case. Welty remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $25,000. Welty has previous convictions in 2020 for obstruction and marijuana possession, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
