SALINA —The AMC Theater in the Central Mall, 2259 S 9th Street, in Salina, has made the decision to permanently close.

The theater's lease is set to expire at the end of May.  The theater confirmed they will no reopen when the lease expires.

Portion of the mall have been temporarily closed due to the hail storm in late April.

Earlier this week, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a review of the recent lab testing results conducted at the mall. According to KDHE, no asbestos was detected in the collected samples, and the mall successfully met KDHE testing requirements.

Because no asbestos hazard was identified through the sampling process, tenants and businesses are proceeding with necessary cleaning and repair activities.

The following businesses remain open because they have separate exterior entrances to their spaces:- Dunham’s Sports  - District Eat & Play  - Taylor’s Twirlers.
