KC woman jailed for stealing thousands of dollars worth of candles

KANSAS CITY —A woman is accused of stealing nearly $26,000 worth of candles from a store on the Country Club Plaza.

Employees contacted police to report 25-year-old Destiny Moore and another person entered the store where she and the other suspect had previously shoplifted from the store.

Officers responded and arrested both. Court documents shows officers recovered a total of 30 candles, worth nearly $700 from  Moore and the other person.

According to court records, Moore is accused of shoplifting more than two dozen times at stores across the Kansas City area since April. She sometimes worked alone, while other times worked with accomplices.

Moore is accused of shoplifting from stores across the metro, often stealing hundreds of dollars worth of candles at a time.

A probable cause statement outlined the dates of Moore’s alleged shoplifting:

Moore made her first appearance in court Sept. 23.  She remains jailed on Jackson County.
