Man on parole accused of shooting victim during central Kan. robbery

CLOUD COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas felon on multiple allegations after a shooting during a robbery in central Kansas.

On Tuesday, a state parole officer contacted Salina Police about the search for 45-year old Miralis Cozart who had a warrant for arrest in connection with a shooting on August 17 in Concordia, according to a media release from Concordia Police. Witnesses identified Cozart as a suspect.  

The victim was transported to the Concordia hospital and was later transferred to another medical facility, to receive extensive medical treatment for his injuries.

Police in Salina located Cozart in the 200 block of S. Broadway. Officers arrested Cozart without incident and booked him into the Saline County on requested charges of 1st Degree Attempted Murder, Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.

Cozart has previous convictions for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal weapons possession and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
