A pickup reported stolen Monday afternoon in Salina was later found across town with two 13-year-old occupants.
A 62-year-old Salina man told police that sometime between 2-2:15 p.m. Monday, someone stole his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 from where it was parked in front of his residence in the 700 block of State Street, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. The pickup was valued at $1,500.
While officers were at the call, a citizen reported the same pickup driving recklessly in the 2600 block of S. Ohio Street in Salina.
A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper who was in the area located and stopped the pickup in the 1300 block of Meyer Drive. The pickup had struck a mailbox, Forrester said.
A 13-year-old boy had been driving, he said. The passenger in the pickup was a 13-year-old girl.
Police arrested the boy was arrested on requested charges of Felony possession of stolen property, no driver's license, Possession of tobacco, Duty upon striking other property and Reckless driving. He is being held at the North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Facility in Junction City.
