SHAWNEE COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just before noon Wednesday in Shawnee County.

A vehicle driven by 82-year-old Henry Profitt, 82, Topeka, was eastbound on SE 93rd Street and left the road just east of SE California Avenue, according to Shawnee County Sheriff's LT Scott Wanamaker.

Profitt and a passenger identified as 71-year-old&nbsp; Carol Beaver of Topeka were pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the crash, SE 93rd street was shut down at SE 93rd/Berryton and at SE 93rd/California for several hours. The accident remains under investigation, according to Wanamaker.
