SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations
Just before 10 p.m. July 6, a sheriff's deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen white 2000 Ford F-150 near SE 5th Street and SE Tefft Street in Shawnee County, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Anthony A. Weems of Topeka, refused to stop and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended in the 500 block of SE Lamar Street when Weems ran from the pickup. Investigators eventually found him inside a residence nearby.
Weems was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charge of Possession of stolen property, Flee or attempt to elude, Fail to stop at a stop sign, Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, Reckless driving, Speeding and Failure to give signal when changing lanes or turning.
