KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are searching for a suspect in another Kansas City homicide.
Just after 7p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the area of 18th and Prospect on a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they located a witness who had summoned them to the area of 18th and Benton advising he heard several gun shots near that location, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Officers responded to 18th and Benton, where they located a victim in a grassy area near a convenience store. The man was unresponsive, and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased at that time.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin gathering witness statements and collecting any evidence. Several witnesses remained in the area and assisted detectives in making progress on identifying an adult male person of interest. Police have not released the name of the victim.
