PLATTE COUNTY —Authorities with the Platte County Sheriff's office confirmed the death of Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd on Thursday.
A death investigation was underway and the Platte County Courthouse will remain closed Friday and reopen on Monday.
Zahnd has been the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney since 2003, according to the county's web site. This makes him the longest-serving prosecutor in the county’s history and the Kansas City metro area.
