Man captured by DHS is going to prison for killing Kansas woman

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A man convicted in the domestic violence murder of a Wichita woman was is going to prison. On Thursday, Carlos Anderson-Honeycutt, 26, Wichita, was sentenced to life in prison, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

In March he was found guilty of the murder of  Britnee Wicker after a jury trial.

On November, 19, 2023 police were dispatched to a shooting at a home in the 2300 block of S. Belmont in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

First responders located 24-year-old Brittnee Wicker inside her home with a fatal gunshot wound. She would be pronounced deceased on the scene. 

Following a thorough collaborative effort with law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Wichita Police Department discovered that Anderson-Honeycutt was in the State of Texas. Coordinating with partners in Texas, particularly the United States Customs and Border Patrol, an arrest was successfully made near Brownsville, Texas. 

On Nov. 15, 2023 authorities booked Anderson-Honeycutt into the Sedgwick County Jail and eventually charged with 1st Degree Murder.
