Bomb squad removes Claymore from property in Kansas

WYANDOTTE COUNTY—Members of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Explosive ordinance Disposal Unit were dispatched Saturday to an abandoned property in the 7200 Block of Forest Driver in Kansas City, according to a media release. 

An individual conducting a walkthrough of the property reported what they believed was a Claymore, a type of compact anti-personnel mine/bomb used by the military.

The police bomb disposal unit was unable to determine if the device was active. Using approproate safety precautions and procedures, along with ATF and FBI, the device was transported to a secure locattion for investigation and disposal.  KCK Police released no additional details
