KEARNY COUNTY — There is no school on Monday for USD 216 Deerfield due to damage from a Sunday storm that brought large hail and strong winds to the community.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning just after 5p.m. Sunday for portions of Kearny, Haskell, Grant and Finney counties.
The school district reported early Monday they need time to clean up and repair large parts of the school. Many vehicles and buildings were damaged with hail approximately 2 and one half inches in diameter, according to the Kearny County Sheriff's office. There are no injuries reported.
