Suspect attempted to take jewelry from victim in Kan. motel lobby

BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for alleged robbery in Barton County.

Just after 4p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the Holiday Inn Express, 3821 10th Street in Great Bend in reference to an attempted robbery, according to a media release.

Officers were advised a male suspect entered the hotel and attempted to physically remove and steal jewelry from someone in the lobby.

While en route to the area, officers were advised the suspect had left the Holiday Inn and was now trying to take items from inside vehicles in the Sonic parking lot.

Officers located the suspect identified as Marquez Lewis, age 25 of Wichita. After speaking with Lewis, witnesses and numerous victims, Lewis was placed under arrest for attempted robbery and transported to the Barton County Jail.
