Kansas pilot hospitalized after small plane crash

BUTLER COUNTY— A Kansas man was injured in a small plane crash just after 4:30p.m. Sunday in Butler County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a single engine 2002 Flying K Skyraider piloted by Terry R. Allen, 69, Augusta, took off from an air strip.

The airplane had a mechanical issue. The pilot attempted to land in a field close by and stalled the plane. The plane crashed to the ground near near 7613 Southwest 50th Street one half mile west of SW Ohio Street and and one quarter mile south of SW 50th Street.

EMS transported Allen to Wesley Medical Center. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
